Wire splice crimpers
First we will discuss the use of wire splice
crimpers, pictured below. Wire splice crimpers are used to secure
the bare end of a wire with the bare end of another wire.

First place your splice barrel into
the proper color coded slot on your crimpers. The crimpers should
have a chart on it so you know what colored slot to place your
specific size barrel into.
Once the barrel is lying flat into
the crimpers, squeeze down onto the splice just enough to hold it
without it falling out. You don't want to actually crush the splice
yet.
Insert the bare wire end into the
splice and lock down until the barrel is evenly crimped all the way
around. It should be crimped enough to hold the wire in without
cutting into the strands.
Now release the splice and turn it
around and place back into the crimper slot. Repeat steps 2 and 3.
Finally, give the two wires a gentle
tug in opposite directions to be sure your wires do not come out of
the splice.
Terminal crimpers
Terminal crimpers are used to crimp various
size terminal lugs, pictured below.

Place your terminal lug into the
color coded cup on the terminal lug crimpers. The crimpers should
have a chart on it so you know what colored slot to place your
specific size terminal lug into.
Squeeze down to hold the lug
in place, but do not crush the lug barrel just yet.
Insert your bare wire end through
the barrel showing about 1/8 inch past the exit of the lug barrel.
Squeeze fully on the crimpers to
evenly crush the barrel and lock the wire down. Again, do
not crimp down so far that you cut the wire strands off in the
barrel.
Hold the terminal lug and give the
wire a gentle tug to ensure proper security of the wire in the
barrel.
